2018 "Musuko" marquette

$23.00

ABV : 13% 750ML

Sight: Dark but not intimidating barn-paint red with a clever wink of bruised plums.

Nose: Aromas of black currant, black raspberry, and blueberry with some sweet cherry notes on the finish. Hints of leather are faintly woven in.

Palate: A nice balance of tannin and acid with just a hint of pepper and black olives on a long finish. Complexity beckons as the glass comes alive sip to sip.

  • Rows 1-20 Marquette from Middle Block in the West Vineyard were planted in 2017. There are 1000 Plants spaced at about 4' per plant with a row length of 200'. The rows are spaced at 9' to allow the plant to breath with the heavy foliage/canopy it can grow. There is a lot of trimming that needs to occur to maintain a healthy plant through the growing season. The middle of the block can become quite warm during the hot days as it's protected. Looking East, you will find heavier grape clusters.

Rows 8 - 14 Marquette from East Vineyard were planted in 2015 and these plants were part of the initial planting of the Vineyard. There are 175 Plants. Rows 15 - 24 Marquette adjacent were planted in 2016. There are 250 plants. There is difference in plant size and grape yield from the North to the South in this Block.

Clearly, there is a Terroir difference within that span perhaps attributed to age but also location. The grape clusters and sugar content in the first 10 plants in Rows 8 - 18 (closest to the Inn) are by and far different than the Northernmost plants in said rows. Vintages to come will showcase the differences in this Terroir.
